Mordecai Proprietary Red Blend 2014
This red blend from Banshee Wines is their homage to Wes Anderson’s The Royal Tenenbaums.
Made with a plethora of grapes from some of the best vineyards in California, this wine blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Zinfandel, Merlot, Carignan, Cabernet Franc and Cinsault giving Mordecai its hallmark full-bodied weight and density. This wine is definitely California, with its comfortingly familiar wild summer berry plushness and notes of mocha and spice. A crowd-pleaser for sure.
Banshee Wines was started in 2009 by three men whose day jobs were in different facets of the wine industry. They came together with the mission to “craft distinctive wines that over-deliver in every possible way.” Another customer favorite from them is the Rickshaw Pinot that we pour in the bar.

Schuchmann Saperavi Kakheti Red 2014
Georgia (the Eurasian country, not the state) is believed to have started winemaking 6,000 years ago. Kakheti, a region in Georgia near the eastern border with Azerbaijan, is perfect for growing high quality Saperavi grapes, which thrive in cooler climates. Saperavi grapes have also been cultivated in the Finger Lakes AVA of New York State and also in Australia.
Meaning “dye” in Georgian, Saperavi has a distinct dark maroon color. Fruity yet slightly spicy and earthy, this wine has a smooth finish and is incredibly versatile. Try it with deep dish pizza, smoky barbeque pork or a traditional Georgian Gozitan ravjul (cheese stuffed pasta).

Schuchmann Rkatsiteli Kakheti White 2014
Rkatsiteli is the white grape of Georgia. This wine has aromas of stone fruit and apples with a medium body and is fermented in stainless steel which gives it a crisp, clean finish. It reminds us of some of the more interesting whites from Italy and Greece that we’ve had in the past. One of our current favorites, Rkatsiteli can be paired with grilled fish, salads and green vegetables.

Schuchmann Pirosmani Kakheti Red 2014
Named after the famous Georgian painter Niko Pirosmanashvili, Pirosmani is 100% Saperavi grapes. This is Schuchmann’s entry level and is an easy quaffer. It’s a little more fruit forward and simple, reminding me of an unoaked Malbec. Pirosmani has notes of fresh cherry, pomegranate and plum.
