Altos De la Hoya 2014
So excited to bring this wine back into the store. Loved it before and love it still. Jumilla is known for growing the most prized grapes of the Mediterranean, Monastrell, otherwise known as Mourvedre. It is the most widely planted grape in the Jumilla region of Spain. Altos is rich and powerful with a palate of dark fruit, minerals and spice. A perfect accompaniment to our lingering chilly nights.
The intense and brooding Olivares Altos de la Hoya Monastrell, a….. red from Jumilla (a small region in southeastern Spain), had a group of Spanish-wine-loving friends in disbelief: How could a wine so densely flavorful be so cheap?

Both Levels choose between the following:
Located between Valence and Lyon, Cave de Tain lies at the foot of the Hermitage hillside. At the heart of the historic northern Rhône vineyards, the Cave produces and markets 5 “cru” wines and single varietal Vins de Pays from over 1000 hectares of vines (appellations Hermitage, Crozes Hermitage, Saint Joseph, Cornas and Saint Peray), making it the leading producer of “cru” wines in the northern Rhône Valley. How exciting to offer these two wines from near such noble regions.
These two wines, a Marsanne and Syrah, are from the IGP region Collines Rhodaniennes which was considered Vin de Pays before 2009.
Cave de Tain Marsanne 2015
Marsanne is one of the dominant white varietals of the Northern Rhone. This 100% Marsanne is crisp with lovely peachy and citrus flavors and nice minerality that you expect from a French Rhône. This wine would be a great aperitif or alongside seafood or grilled white meats. We are featuring this wine along with two other white Rhône varietals in our white flight at Uncorked.
Cave de Tain Syrah 2015
What a fantastic red offering at this price point from a producer of Saint Joseph, Cornas and Hermitage! It’s rich yet light enough to pair with chicken or a burger. Cave de Tain Syrah, is a brilliant, deep ruby color with a fresh nose of dark fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant) and notes of cinnamon and pepper. It is smooth and supple on the palate. It is a great bottle to usher in all of the joys of spring. If you can save this until Memorial Day, one of the suggested pairings found on the label is, in fact, hot dogs. A perfect American accompaniment.

Antidoto 2014
Tempranillo is Spain’s most famous grape. It is grown throughout the country but is most favorably grown in Rioja and Ribera del Duero. Most wines from Ribera del Duero can be a little pricey so we are very excited to offer this bottle. Antidoto is opulent and intense. The hot and dry 2014 vintage seems to have thrived in this cool and extremely harsh area of Ribera which falls within the province of Soria. Fruit plays the main role with delicious aromas of blackberries and brambles and well-integrated tannins. A tremendously enjoyable wine at a tremendously enjoyable price. Serve with a Sheep’s milk cheese or grilled lamb.
